Week 3 Update: The Art of Staying the Course (When the Scales Don’t Cooperate)
Read more: Week 3 Update: The Art of Staying the Course (When the Scales Don’t Cooperate)My Personal Diary – Week of December 12-19 If there’s one thing I’ve learned on this fitness journey, it’s that progress rarely moves in a straight line. This week has been a perfect example of what I like to call the “yo-yo phase” – that frustrating but entirely normal period where your body seems to […]

The Post-Holiday Reset: My Fitness Goals After 50 and Daily Targets That Actually Work
Read more: The Post-Holiday Reset: My Fitness Goals After 50 and Daily Targets That Actually WorkLet me start with the truth: I’ve put on a couple of pounds. There, I said it. And you know what? I’m not beating myself up about it. That last weigh-in wasn’t giving me an accurate reading anyway, so this is simply where I am right now—my genuine starting point for this next phase of […]

The Day Everything Clicked: My Unexpected Weight Loss Win (And What It Really Means)
Read more: The Day Everything Clicked: My Unexpected Weight Loss Win (And What It Really Means)You know those moments when something happens that completely catches you off guard – in the best possible way? Well, I just had one of those this week, and I’m still processing it. I stepped on the scales expecting the usual modest progress, and instead saw something that made me do a double-take: 8.7 pounds […]

January 2nd 2025
Read more: January 2nd 2025A Rocky Start, But Moving Forward: My First Days of 2026 There’s something almost poetic about starting a new year flat on your back—or in my case, making repeated trips to the bathroom. Let me paint you the picture: New Year’s Eve, I decided to have one last hurrah with KFC before embarking on my […]
Welcome to my first diary entry.
Starting this website has been a goal of mine for a long time. It’s not just about motivating myself to live the best life I possibly can, but also about encouraging you to do the same—whatever that looks like for you.
I’m no expert and definitely no guru. I’m just a normal guy trying to build a better life for myself and my family, learning as I go and being honest about the journey.
There will be highs and there will be lows. At times we’ll drift off the path—and that’s perfectly normal. What matters isn’t being perfect, but recognising when things slip and getting back on track. That’s all any of us can really ask of ourselves.
I weighed myself today and my current stats are 17st 3.2lb (241.2lb / 109.4kg). That means I’ve put on just over 3lb over Christmas, which honestly isn’t too bad considering the amount of takeaways, chocolate, biscuits, and sweets I’ve been enjoying. I deliberately gave myself a break before focusing properly on my two main goals:
- weighing no more than 14st 3lb (199lb / 90kg), and
- reaching a body fat percentage below 20%.
If I’m being honest, I’m actually glad to be starting now. I was getting sick of constantly troughing on fatty foods and feeling like I couldn’t stop myself. It’s time to draw a line and move forward.
I’m hoping to see a small weight loss by Sunday now that I’ve reined things back in. If you’d like to know what I eat, feel free to ask—but be warned, I don’t do things conventionally. I’m a very fussy eater and I don’t eat many of the foods that are usually labelled as “good for you”.
I’ll be posting diary entries every week. My stats and weigh-ins will run from Monday to Sunday, but because Fitbit sends the results email on Wednesday, you can expect my diary and stats updates to be published then.
Weight loss will be just one part of my weekly diary entries. I have a lot more to share, so if there’s anything in particular you’d like me to cover, please let me know using the contact form—I genuinely welcome suggestions.
View my current weight & body composition progress to see my latest stats and weigh-ins.
As for the rest of the website, I’ll be posting blog articles hopefully daily, so please do come back regularly for new and useful content.
This entry is more of an introduction than a proper diary update, so I’ll be posting another entry tomorrow where I’ll share my thoughts on my weight, body composition, short-term goals, and how I’m feeling about myself right now.
So with that, may I wish you a Happy New Year—and here’s to not a new you, but a better, more conscious, and more well-rounded YOU.
